Shoop
It’s been a long time since the back of my hand has looked like this. A long time since I’ve looked over to one side and seen two drunken people attempting to make out, but falling over instead. A long time since I’ve almost gotten burned by a careless cigarette user talking with his hands.
But it was so freaking worth it.
The Dan Band was at the 9:30 Club last night, and it was worth every penny, and worth every breath of second-hand smoke. Most people know The Dan Band as the wedding band from “Old School”, and their rendition of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” is quite something. Especially when being sung word-for-effing-word by a crowd of several hundred people. It’s a group that basically started out as this guy (Dan) and his friends going to sing karaoke – they would sing traditional “chick” songs, but totally straight-faced. The results are hilarious, even if you’re not drunk (which none of us were, although intoxicated karaoke-goers may have been part of their initial audience), and any time you see a trio of guys kick off a concert with an ABBA medley, you know you’ve seen something special.
They have a new Christmas album out called “Ho”, and here is a video from one of their songs from the album. It’s called “Rock You Hard This Christmas”, and while it’s hilarious, I would be careful about watching it at work. Also, if you’re a parent with kids old enough to understand English, or you are easily offended by sexual innuendo or a bleeped out use of the “f” word, you may want to use your judgment. Having issued those caveats, it’s freaking hysterical, so enjoy. My other favorite song title from the album is “Let’s Get Drunk and Make Out This Christmas” – because really, it’s more efficient than going to the mall, isn’t it?
(I tried to embed the video, but the HTML code on YouTube was incomplete, and that's about where my knowledge of such things ends.)

Good times! Dan's backup singers really make the show come together! Like magic...only without the creepy raised eybrow from David Copperfield.
Great show!
That sounds fun. Though lately the whole smashed-into-a-crowd kinda places with unpredictable grinding and drink spilling (aka Lucky Bar on a Saturday night) make me feel REALLY old and cranky! :-)
OH MY GOSH!!!! I just watched the "Rock U Hard this Christmas" video and about peed in my pants!! Super hilarious!!
Love!
