First One!
I was thinking, many months ago, about what I wanted to get Special K for a wedding gift – knowing that such things are totally optional, but also knowing that he’s a very generous individual who doesn’t typically spend a lot of time or money on himself. All of a sudden, inspiration struck, and I knew I had to get him Nationals season tickets. Since a full season would have cost about as much as our wedding reception, I was relieved to find that they have smaller packages available, and I got him a 20-game pack of tickets.
Yesterday, we were treated to some beautiful spring weather, which seemed like a good time for our first game of the season. We broke in “our” seats last night, to watch the Nats get nailed by the Marlins, but as Special K explained, this season is supposed to be kind of a throw-away season, as they’re looking to develop a lot of the young talent they got a hold of in the off-season. Or something like that. I don’t follow baseball as closely as him, so you’d have to talk to him for a more coherent discussion, although I have a feeling that I’ll become more literate as the season wears on. I did, however, emphasize that I bought him these tickets so that he could take friends and family and anyone he wanted – I didn’t expect to go with him to all the games.
But there’s something about a ballpark hot dog with ketchup and mustard, washed down with an icy cold beer for dinner that’s just freakin’ awesome. (And I love that our seats are near the Harp/Guiness stand, so there’s no Bud Lite for us!) While the Racing Presidents don’t quite compare to the Sausage Race at

Great gift, even if you got him tix for a season that some experts think might be historically bad. Ballpark + hot dogs + beer = Always Good!
I still can't get over the fact that you're eating meat again . . .

Hooray! Welcome to Nats fandom! This will be my 3rd season now with the hometown team, and I'm excited for my first game (have tix for the Nats-Braves game on the 16th) even if it will be a season of low expectations.
And as a fellow former veg, I 2nd the vote on ballpark hot dogs. They rock!!!
Not much better than a great spring night, hot dogs, beer, President / sausage races, and baseball. Not a baseball fan, but the ambiance can't be beat. However, this is a close second...
