D.C. Is Too Dang Small
So, like a number of those of us planning a wedding, I’ve been sucked into The Knot. I’ve gotten some great ideas, met some cool people, and it’s generally been a fun resource. (I used to take a dim view of it - but it really is helpful.) Today, someone paged me on the DC Area chat board. Turns out I went to elementary school with this woman, and even though I’d seen her picture before, it didn’t even occur to me that I knew her. Of course, now that I know I look at her picture and think “oh yeah…” But DC is officially too small. (Or maybe it’s just The Knot that’s too small.)
However, there’s a good reason that I’m not in touch with anyone from elementary school anymore. I’m vaguely curious, I must admit. But I don’t know if I’m curious enough.
Special K and I are in the process of painting and organizing his house so that I can move in with a minimum of stress and chaos. I realize that some will be unavoidable, but I’m trying to harness the power of my type-A tendencies and use them for good. So far, it looks a little crazy at his house, but I think that will be of relatively short duration – right now it’s a sea of paint cans and assorted accoutrements, with furniture in the wrong places and pictures stacked up instead of on the newly-painted walls. We’re also doing the majority of the heavy moving this weekend, with the thought that we’re okay if this week really sucks, if that means that the week before the wedding will be relatively low-key and low-stress (moving-related stress, that is).
Apart from that, I’m phenomenally boring these days. (Actually, even including that…)
And so it goes.
