Ain't That Something?

So, I noticed late last week that I was having trouble breathing. Nothing serious, such as not being able to breathe at all, but I couldn’t draw a full breath without really trying, and that was irritating. It was also somewhat worrisome. It’s happened in the past, but this lasted longer than it ever has – usually it’s a day or two and then I’m better. So, I went to the doctor and had a bunch of tests done, and he said that I may have a mild case of asthma – who knew? It’s likely allergy-induced or something like that (there’s tons of crap in the air at this time of year, after all, and my allergies are always interesting), so he put me on Advair, which you take every day as a preventive kind of thing, it’s not for acute attacks or anything. The Advair isn’t actually helping much, which is kind of annoying, especially since I started to hyperventilate Saturday night as I was trying to breathe properly.

Fortunately, I went to the gym this morning, and it didn’t cause any problems with my workout, although I didn’t do any cardio work. My chest still feels tight and my breathing is still a little off, but it’s a bit better. We’ll see – I’ll give it a few more days. I’m not often good at being sick, mostly because I’m a generally healthy person, and I hate having to slow down for a reason as silly as my body not being up to the task of daily life. (For the record, I realize that this is not a productive mindset – I’m working on it.)

Maybe I’ll just go home when I’m done here and watch a little Season One of Alias – if I can’t get in shape, I’ll just watch a show about people who are.
